Dear Members of the Organizing and Scie Adv. Committees of THMT-12 Palermo

we are now approaching the deadline for abstract submission (10 February) and I would like to update you with the present status: so far we have received about 110 abstracts, which is not too bad, but still below the expectation. It is actually a bit worrying that so far we are missing the expected response from countries from which traditionally we had a very good participation (France, Germany, Japan,UK, Italy...). We were also expecting more submissions from the USA, Australia,..Admittedly we do have over 240 pre-registrations, which sounds promising

Unfortunately, this year seems to be very rich on various events covering related, similar and even overlapping topics - we are competing with about 8-10 conferences, all to be held between June and September 2012.

I am, of course, aware of our habits - we all tend to submit abstracts in the last minute (or even after) - everybody is busy. I would, however like to invite you again to make some more effort in promoting our conference, and of course to submit your own work. I can promise that it will be another interesting and pleasant event and we are looking forward to your participation.
